Building Inclusive Communities in the United States and Germany

Welcoming Communities Transatlantic ExchangeCommunities thrive when they create a welcoming culture to people of different backgrounds - including refugees.

Beginning in April 2016, Cultural Vistas is working to build more inclusive communities in Germany and the United States through the Welcoming Communities Transatlantic Exchange.

This exchange program, which is being conducted in partnership with Welcoming America and Heinrich Böll Stiftung North America, aims to build the capacity of local integration leaders and, through them, strengthen the welcoming infrastructure of the U.S. and German communities in which they work.

Over three years, groups of Americans and Germans will visit each other’s countries, focusing on communities that have had challenges with significant and unexpected migrant influxes or those with unique and successful approaches to addressing integration.
